Regardless of the Package chosen, the first mission of the LSI IMMERSION PROGRAM is to provide each visiting student with the necessary "contexts" to use Bahasa Indonesia on a daily basis . . . and to attempt to keep the student "in Bahasa Indonesia" for the duration of her/his stay.
For students undertaking a LANGUAGE & CULTURE PROGRAM, the twin goal is to provide students with a better understanding of the culture and people of Indonesia . . . and, hopefully, have the students return to their home-countries having acquired memories, friendships and influences which will impact their lives forever.
All LSI LANGUAGE & CULTURE PROGRAMS (2-, 3- and 4-week) include an unusual 2-Day Excursion to West Java (the area surrounding Jakarta). This extraordinary journey to wholly untouristed locales, provides students with unparalleled opportunities for authentic interaction with local farmers and operators of cottage industries.
3- and 4-week Programs also include a "3-Day Riverboat Cruise" on the island of Borneo, where students witness orangutans playing in their natural environment, and likely encounter other inhabitans of the jungle as well.
Immersion students are strongly encouraged to consider enrolling in a 3- or 4-week Program (rather than a 2-week Program). It is often difficult for students to fully realise their goals in just 2 weeks, and students undertaking the 'Cultural Component' are deprived of some program features (including the 3-Day Borneo Riverboat Cruise).
With that said, 2-week Programs are made available for those students who simply cannot spare more time.

Situated in a large converted house in a quiet residential neighborhood, the LSI LANGUAGE CENTRE provides an ideally serene environment for language study. Having none of the qualities of a "School" and all of the qualities of a "home," the LANGUAGE CENTRE offers a friendly, family-like atmosphere which fosters genuine communication in Bahasa Indonesia.

Located just 2 city blocks from the LSI LANGUAGE CENTRE,
this exquisite guest house is the official homestay of LANGUAGE STUDIES INDONESIA.
PESONA GUEST HOUSE JAKARTA is one of the world's truly unique guest houses lodgings. It offers guests a "homestay" experience . . .
while providing a level of quality and service comparable to a 4- or 5-star hotel.
Decorated with fine Indonesian and European furnishings, PESONA's amenities include a grand piano and a picturesque swimming pool surrounded by groomed trees and lovely outdoor seating areas. A large circular staircase leads up to three finely-appointed, air-conditioned guest rooms on the second floor, each with a high-quality queen-sized bed and luxurious linens. Two of the rooms have direct access to a second-level terrace overlooking the neighborhood. The third room steps out to its own private balcony.
Each guest room has a locking door, a full ensuite bathroom with shower and plenty of hot water, a small refrigerator, a safe deposit box, cable television with DVD player, and free WiFi access.
Complimentary guest house facilities include the swimming pool, a treadmill, a computer station with internet connection, a large-screen television with DVD player, a huge DVD library, and parking for three cars.
LSI IMMERSION PACKAGES also include unlimited laundry service, and lavish Indonesian or American breakfasts, lunches and dinners.
PESONA GUEST HOUSE is operated by Ibu Nana (a native Indonesian)
and her husband, Pak Mel (a Canadian).
Ibu Nana and Pak Mel genuinely enjoy entertaining foreign visitors. This is immediately apparent from the moment guests are greeted at Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. It is almost ironic that, in this opulent setting, guests find a truly social setting where they can interact as freely and as casually as they would in the humblest of homestays.
But notwithstanding the social atmosphere that PESONA offers, the home is very large and provides ample private spaces for those who prefer solitude.
Whether you are looking to "connect" with Indonesians, or just want to spend your free time curled up in a gazebo with a book . . . PESONA has what you are looking for.
The home provides a quite respite for guests during weekdays, then comes alive each evening as the family assembles for dinner and conversation with their guests at about 6:30pm.
The language spoken in the home is Bahasa Indonesia. With that said, Pak Mel is a well-educated and well-informed native-English speaker, and his presence always serves as an excellent "bridge" between "east and west."

PROGRAM ENROLLMENT SEQUENCE
1. Your ENROLLMENT should be submitted at least 3 months prior to your proposed program commencement date.
The LSI Admissions Office will immediately return a PROGRAM CONFIRMATION for your approval.
(At that point, you may make changes or decline your enrollment.)
2. Once your final approval has been received, the Admissions Office will forward an INVOICE FOR YOUR RESERVATION DEPOSIT.
(A Reservation Deposit of 25% of the Total Programme Fee is required to secure your Reservation).
3. To avoid dissapointments, your Reservation Deposit of 25% should be received no later than 2 months prior to your
program commencement date.
(Rooms at PESONA GUEST HOUSE are rarely available with less than 2 months notice.)
