In situations that require you to show your Indonesian friends compassion, you can use the expression "Turut Prihatin."
Check the following example:
“Saya turut prihatin atas musibah yang kamu telah alami.”
“I’m sorry to hear about the disaster you went through.”
From the example above, you can see that we use the expression turut prihatin in a similar manner
that you would say “I’m sorry to hear that” for unfortunate situations.
