Batik Pekalongan, as Indonesian say it, is batik originating from Pekalongan, Central Java.
Pekalongan city is known as the City of Batik because of its history and its relationship with batik, its contribution to the development of batik, and the existence of batik craft centers
as a source of livelihood for residents.
The symbol of Pekalongan City also contains elements of Pekalongan Batik.
Pekalongan batik is influenced by Javanese culture and by four foreign cultures, namely Dutch, Arabic, Chinese, and Japanese.
This influence makes the motifs, patterns, and colours of Pekalongan batik different from the Kraton Batik that developed in Surakarta and Yogyakarta. Pekalongan batik motifs are varied and can combine various elements such as plant and animal motifs.
