HOW TO SPEAK LIKE NATIVE INDONESIAN | “AH & NAIK DARAH”

To be able to speak like native Indonesian, it is important to know some particles and idioms that are usually used by them. In this fourth episode, we will be discussing some other particles and idioms such as “ah” and “naik darah”. Are you curious how these are used in sentences? Check the following examples:

Aku memesan ukuran 38, tetapi sepatu yang kuterima siang ini, ukurannya 35. Jadi aku tidak bisa memakai sepatu itu. Ah, menyebalkan sekali.

I ordered a size 38, but the shoes that I received today are size 35. So I can't wear them. Oh gosh, how annoying.

Ya, sudah, aku sudah menelepon mereka berkali-kali, tetapi tidak ada jawaban dari mereka dan tentu saja ini membuat aku naik darah.

Yes, I did that, I've called them many times but no answer from them and of course this upset me.

As you can see from these examples, “ah” is used to express disappointment and “naik darah” is an idiom which is used to express something that is upsetting.

Watch this video to further understand these sentences in a spoken interaction.
